Ending Homelessness

The difference we want to make
We are working to reduce homelessness to a rare and temporary hardship, and to give the homeless access to a seamless network of support services.

Ending Homelessness

Homelessness arises from inequities in education, employment, social services and health care — and the significant gap between the minimum wage and a living wage. More than 20,000 people in Washington state are without a home or a safe place to sleep at night. Families with children are the fastest-growing group in need of shelter, comprising almost half of our state’s homeless population.

We believe that homelessness is unacceptable and solvable — and that the time is right to end homelessness in our state. We have the leadership and policies in place. Today, every county in the country has adopted a 10-year plan to end homelessness. Nonprofits provide effective support services, and creative public-private partnerships are focused on the issue.
